Today, I was in the car going to the doctor when a news story came on about some sort of film/coating that would allow ketchup to come out of the bottle more easily. At first i thought, “this is stupid, but whatever.” As the story went on, the journalist began to ask questions to the inventor, such as, “Did your struggles with ketchup prompt you to create a solution?” and “Do you think this invention will take away from the dinner experience?” As more and more ridiculous questions were asked and answered, I began to realize how absurd media has become. For instance, this past week scientists were able to take skin cells (not unborn embryos) and create heart cells. I didn’t hear this on the news at all. Yet I managed to listen to a ten minute story on ketchup bottles. That’s just stupid.
